Ballet Recital

Last weekend was the girls' ballet recital. This was Ella's first year to be in ballet. Well actually her class name is "creative movement", its not even ballet yet, how funny is that? This is her bun, this thing took me 45 minutes to do, she waited so patiently. I was her class backstage mom. This is her at the dress rehearsal. Her class were the pink lollipops. She was not scared at all, even when she was on that big stage. See all the girls lifting up their lollipops? Well the teacher taught them to hold it up like saying "look at my lollipop" and the girls would say it, it was so precious. This is Ella waiting to go on stage to perform. Avery's class were the Candy Land Kids. This is her four year of ballet. This is her at her dress rehearsal. Most of our family came to the recital. This is Tino's older brother and his family. This is Tino's sister's family. These are Tino's parents. These are my parents. These are all the kids that came to the recital. we had a great time and the girls did so good, I'm so proud of them both.

Nature Studies

It was so beautiful this morning so we quickly went outside and started on our nature studies. Since my garden is really starting to grow I decided to let the kids draw my garden. Avery took her nature journal and the two littles just took a piece of paper. After drawing the entire garden I asked the kids to draw each individual plant on another piece of paper. Avery was studying the tomato plant to make sure she put just the right number of tomatoes on there. Ella enjoyed drawing her tomato plant but she decided to write her numbers instead so her paper just had numbers all over it. But that's ok, because she is learning, and she told me the numbers were her counting all the plants. Isaac did a great job on counting all the green stalks coming from the onion plants. Did you know that for every stalk coming from the onion is how many rings the onion has? The more stalks the more rings. See my compost pile behind Avery. The kids just love throwing their food scraps in there. I do too, it makes me so giddy to see all the great dirt that comes from that thing.

My Garden

Since it's Earth Day I thought I'd post pictures of my small garden. When I started my garden I knew we would be moving so I made a small garden. It's only four by 8 but it works for me, for now. This year I planted strawberries which belong to the two little girls. They ate their first strawberry Saturday and they were so excited! Here is a picture of one of the plants, see all the coming strawberries? Avery and Ella check their plants daily. Their plants are still in their original pot because at any time we might get an offer on our house and our strawberries will go with us. My favorite plant is my tomato plant and by bell pepper plant. I check my tomato plant daily and get so amused at how my tomato's are growing. Aren't they just so cute?! As I was looking at my bell pepper plant I noticed a lot of flowers so I decided to open the flower that was the most dried out and look at what I saw! See that little ol' bell pepper? I'm so giddy right now. I know I get excited over the silliest things. My onion plants are growing so fast now. Don't they just look BEAU TI FUL?!This is my other tomato plant. When I bought it, it was about 8 inches tall. So I planted it laying down and just kept the leaves on top. I did this because I have learned that tomatoes will have a better root system if you plant it sideways when you get them as tall as I got mine. The knots on the stem will begin to root and the tomato plant will grow faster. So I tried it and just look at it go! I already have flowers on it! I can't wait to see the tomatoes come from this plant. They will be orange tomatoes. I will be planting a window garden this weekend and I'll post pictures later on that.

Bluebonnets

It's April! Do you know what this means? YES, it's bluebonnet time!! We headed to our usual spot and I quickly took pictures. With four kiddos you have to move fast! This picture was the third one I took. See Ella is already tired. Just look at that girl. I think she started singing in this one, I'm not sure because I was too busy clicking away and telling Tino to fix this and that. See Lexy doing her best to hold Isaac? That boy just wanted to run through the bluebonnets.Great now Avery is not cooperating. GrrrrrLexy got tired of holding down the banchie. See he thinks its all fun and games until mommy throws a BIG fit because she didn't get her picture. Man that boy.Lexy couldn't help but to laugh at the banchie. Look at Avery just waiting patiently, I'm glad she was.I'm not quite sure how this banchie got the look of putting his finger in the light socket, but he did.Ok, so we had to remove the banchie. My girls are so sweet.I got it! Now time to crop, so I'm off.
